Limit 5492 Pilot Black IP Tan PU Strap Watch - W7762
Ref. 5492
Sits in Limit’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Limit watches we list, which start at £15.
Price range £15 to £60 across 32 Limit watches in stock. The pilot-watch formula is well established — dark dial, strong Arabic numerals, a case large enough to read through a glove — and the 5492 follows it honestly. The day-date at three o'clock adds a practical note that fits the utilitarian brief, and the black PVD finish keeps the overall reading suitably workmanlike rather than dressy. At 43mm the case sits with some presence on the wrist, though 12mm of thickness is restrained enough that it moves under a cuff without protest. The tan strap softens what would otherwise be an all-black composition, and the contrast reads well against the dark dial and case — a deliberate pairing rather than an afterthought.

Learn more about Limit
Limit has been sold in Britain since 1912, and for most of that time it has occupied one position without much deviation: the cheapest watch in the shop that is still worth owning.
It sits under Time Products, the same ownership as Sekonda and Accurist, which gives all three shared sourcing and distribution across British jewellers, catalogue retailers and department stores.
The range is deliberately conservative — plain dials, Roman or baton markers, gold-plated and stainless cases, leather and bracelet straps, mostly quartz with a small number of mechanical models. Pocket watches remain part of the catalogue, which few brands can still say.
It is a first watch, a school watch, a work watch and a gift watch, and it has been all four for over a century without pretending to be anything else.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
20mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
