Longines Conquest Heritage 38mm Mens Watch Green
Ref. L16494022
Sits in Longines’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Longines watches we list, which start at £1,050.
Price range £1,050 to £22,850 across 113 Longines watches in stock. The Conquest Heritage reaches back to Longines' 1950s sport watches — a period when the brand was producing some of the most technically accomplished competition timers in the world. This 38mm reissue takes the proportions and broad aesthetic of that era and fits them around the L888, a movement built around a silicon balance-spring that resists magnetic fields and temperature variation more reliably than a conventional hairspring. The 72-hour power reserve means a weekend off the wrist causes no disruption. At 38mm it wears squarely in the tradition it references — compact by today's standards, but deliberately so, and the green lacquered dial reads differently across the day, shifting from rich and saturated in shade to almost luminous in direct light. The alligator strap keeps the whole thing sitting low and quiet on the wrist. Beneath the caseback, hidden from daily view, sits an 18-carat gold medallion with a fish motif — a period detail that would have appeared on the originals, and one that makes opening the case feel less like a mechanical inspection and more like finding something that was meant to last.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 72 hours fully wound — enough to sit off the wrist over a weekend and still be running.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 38mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
