Worth being clear about what the label does and does not mean. A limited edition is a production decision, not a quality one: the movement, case and finishing are usually identical to the regular version, and the limitation is a marketing lever as often as it is a constraint. Runs of 1,000 or 2,000 pieces are common enough that scarcity is nominal. Genuinely small runs — a few dozen, or a single retailer's allocation — behave differently, and those are the ones that tend to hold value.

What you are reliably buying is a version that will not be restocked. If the dial or the collaboration is the reason you want it, that matters, because when the run is gone the only route is the second-hand market at whatever it is worth by then. If you want the watch rather than the edition, the standard model is usually cheaper and always easier to find.
