Two-Tone Watches
Two-tone means steel and gold on the same watch, usually a steel case and bracelet with gold centre links, bezel or crown. It was ubiquitous in the 1980s, unfashionable for twenty years after, and is firmly back.

Practically it solves a real problem: it goes with both gold and silver jewellery, and it dresses up or down more easily than either metal alone. The gold element is almost always plating or PVD at these prices, which means it is the part that will show wear first, and on a bracelet the centre links take the most contact.
The proportion is what decides whether it works. A gold bezel on a steel case is a small accent; a full gold centre link is a statement. Longines, Tissot and Certina handle the restrained version well, and the median here is around GBP 200 so it is an easy thing to try.
