The PRX traces directly to a 1978 Tissot design, with the name encoding both its character and its specification: Precise and Robust, with the X standing for ten bars of water resistance. Revived in 2021, it brought that original integrated-bracelet architecture back at a moment when that look had become one of the most discussed shapes in the industry. At 40mm it wears slightly larger than that figure suggests, because the first link of the bracelet extends rigidly from the case before curving round the wrist — a consequence of the integrated design rather than a flaw in it. What keeps it manageable is the 10.4mm profile, which is genuinely flat for a water-resistant sports watch and will disappear under a cuff without protest. The red sunburst dial shifts considerably under different light, reading closer to burgundy in shade and brightening sharply in direct sun; the contrast with the polished bezel ring is sharp enough to notice. The ETA F06.115 inside earns its keep quietly. It is a Swiss-made Swatch Group movement built for accuracy and longevity, and it carries one practical detail worth knowing: when the battery approaches the end of its life, the seconds hand begins skipping in four-second jumps rather than dying without warning, giving the owner time to act.

Learn more about Tissot
Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile founded the company in Le Locle in 1853, assembling gold pocket watches and, unusually for the time, exporting aggressively — Russia became a major market within a decade.
Tissot's history is a sequence of firsts achieved through willingness to try materials and ideas the establishment considered unserious. The first mass-produced pocket watch with two time zones came in 1853. The first anti-magnetic wristwatch in 1930. The Astrolon of 1971 was the first watch with a movement made largely of injection-moulded plastic, and it worked. The RockWatch of 1985 used Alpine granite for the case, followed by watches in wood and mother-of-pearl.
The T-Touch of 1999 was the most significant: a tactile sapphire crystal allowing the wearer to access altimeter, barometer, compass, thermometer, and chronograph by touching the glass, years before touchscreens were commonplace.
Tissot merged with Omega in 1930 and both became founding members of what is now the Swatch Group. Its position in the group is volume and accessibility — Swiss mechanical and quartz watches at prices most people can reach, with the Powermatic 80 movement offering an eighty-hour reserve at entry level.
The company has held timekeeping roles across cycling, basketball, motorsport, and fencing.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
12mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Will it fit my wrist?
Lug-to-lug is 44.6mm, which suits wrists from roughly 16cm (6¼ inches) upward.
Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 40mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
