The PRX is a revival, not a reinvention — Tissot brought back the original 1978 integrated-bracelet design largely intact, and the proportions tell you everything about that intent. At 35mm with a lug-to-lug of just 34.6mm, it sits closer to the wrist than almost any integrated-bracelet watch of this type, and at 9.6mm thick it disappears under a cuff in a way the chunkier end of this category simply cannot. The sunray green dial shifts between deep and bright depending on the angle of the light, and the slim baton markers keep it uncluttered. The bracelet carries the same angular, light-catching quality — thin links that look considered rather than mass-produced, secured by a push-button butterfly clasp that sits flush with the underside. The ETA F05.115 inside is a dependable Swiss quartz calibre that includes an end-of-life indicator: when the battery is running down, the seconds hand begins jumping in four-second intervals rather than leaving you guessing. The strap changes without tools, which matters more than it sounds on a watch this size where the bracelet is as much of the design as the case.

Learn more about Tissot

Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile founded the company in Le Locle in 1853, assembling gold pocket watches and, unusually for the time, exporting aggressively — Russia became a major market within a decade.

Tissot's history is a sequence of firsts achieved through willingness to try materials and ideas the establishment considered unserious. The first mass-produced pocket watch with two time zones came in 1853. The first anti-magnetic wristwatch in 1930. The Astrolon of 1971 was the first watch with a movement made largely of injection-moulded plastic, and it worked. The RockWatch of 1985 used Alpine granite for the case, followed by watches in wood and mother-of-pearl.

The T-Touch of 1999 was the most significant: a tactile sapphire crystal allowing the wearer to access altimeter, barometer, compass, thermometer, and chronograph by touching the glass, years before touchscreens were commonplace.

Tissot merged with Omega in 1930 and both became founding members of what is now the Swatch Group. Its position in the group is volume and accessibility — Swiss mechanical and quartz watches at prices most people can reach, with the Powermatic 80 movement offering an eighty-hour reserve at entry level.

The company has held timekeeping roles across cycling, basketball, motorsport, and fencing.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

What size strap does it take?

11mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Will it fit my wrist?

Lug-to-lug is 34.6mm, which suits wrists from roughly 15cm (6 inches) upward.

Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as unisex, and at this size it suits any wrist that takes the dimensions.

Cheapest place to buy

Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.

Who are Goldsmiths?

Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
