Stepping up in Chopard's range
The Happy Sport arrived in 1993 with a single unusual idea: diamonds that float freely across the dial rather than sitting fixed in metal, moving with the wearer's wrist as though suspended. Three of them drift across the pink sunburst face here, catching light at angles a set stone never could. The crown carries a pink sapphire, which ties it to the dial without being heavy-handed about it. At 30mm the case reads as deliberate restraint — this is the smaller of the Happy Sport sizes, and on the wrist it sits close without disappearing. The Lucent Steel bracelet, produced to Chopard's own sustainability standard, has a weight and finish that aligns with the case rather than feeling like an afterthought, and the push-button deployant clasp makes daily fastening straightforward.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
