Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The AR5859 sits within the Sportivo line, which is exactly what the name suggests — sport aesthetics filtered through Armani's preference for clean, monochromatic presentation. The result here is a white-on-white chronograph where the dial, sub-dials and bracelet read as a single continuous surface, punctuated only by silver indices and a red central seconds hand that carries more visual aggression than anything else on the watch. At 42mm and 11mm thick, the case wears with presence but not bulk, and the silicone-wrapped steel bracelet is the more interesting construction: the links hold their form like a conventional metal bracelet while the silicone skin makes contact with the wrist soft and warm, with no cold metal against the skin. The butterfly deployment closes flush and disappears into the bracelet. At 140 grams it is a watch you notice on the wrist, though not uncomfortably — the weight is distributed evenly rather than sitting forward on the case.

Giorgio Armani launched Emporio Armani in 1981 as a younger, more accessible line beneath the main label. Watches followed under licence, and since 2000 they have been produced by Fossil Group, which holds the manufacturing and distribution rights.
The watches are fashion accessories rather than horological objects, and the house does not claim otherwise. Movements are bought-in quartz and Japanese automatic calibres, cased in designs that follow the clothing line's aesthetic: muted palettes, clean dials, and a preference for restraint over ornament.
That restraint is the appeal. Where much of the licensed-fashion category reaches for size and shine, Emporio Armani generally does not, and the better references in the line are quietly proportioned watches at prices well under the Swiss entry point.
