The Endeavour Centre Seconds is the watch H. Moser uses to make its argument most plainly: that a dial needs nothing on it. No brand name, no indices, no text of any kind — just the fumé gradient itself, shifting from a deep turquoise at the edges to something closer to open water at the centre. The effect is that the colour does the work usually given to applied markers, and the leaf-shaped hands read against it with surprising ease. At 38mm with a lug-to-lug of 45.4mm, it sits tidily on a range of wrists without feeling like a compromise in either direction. What separates this from a watch that simply looks interesting is the HMC 200 beneath the exhibition caseback. Moser developed a double hairspring system — two balance springs set 180° apart — specifically to counteract the positional errors that a single spring accumulates over a day. The blue balance bridge that holds it is visible through the back, and it is the kind of finishing detail that rewards a second look long after the dial has become familiar.
