The HydroConquest arrived in 2007 as Longines' answer to a specific question: could a serious diver's watch still look composed on dry land? This blue-dial 41mm sits squarely in that tradition, and at under 12mm thick it is notably flat for a watch rated to 300 metres — slim enough to pass under a cuff in a way that many divers of comparable depth rating simply cannot manage. The sunray blue dial shifts register depending on the light, reading closer to navy indoors and brightening considerably outdoors, and the double-coated sapphire crystal keeps glare from obscuring it. The L888 movement is Longines' better calibre, running at 25,200 vph with a 72-hour power reserve — three full days before it needs attention, which is genuinely useful rather than a number to be quoted. The diving extension built into the folding clasp is a thoughtful addition for wearing over a wetsuit, and the ceramic-and-steel bezel gives the watch a two-texture presence at the wrist that the bracelet alone would not.
