Lorus sits within the Seiko group, and the AS32 inside this watch is a Seiko-made solar calibre — which means the movement behind an unassuming price point is considerably more considered than the category usually suggests. It charges from natural and artificial light alike, holds that charge for four months in darkness, and runs to within twenty seconds a month. There is genuinely nothing to service. At 40mm and 10.9mm thick it wears close to the wrist, and the dark green sunray dial — which shifts between forest and olive depending on the angle of the light — gives it more character than the polished-and-brushed steel case would lead you to expect. The three-fold clasp with dual push-button release is a practical detail that belongs on watches costing considerably more.
