Premium

Sits in Philipp Plein’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Philipp Plein watches we list, which start at £219.

Price range £219 to £479 across 30 Philipp Plein watches in stock.

A 44mm square ceramic case in black sets the tone here, with a fixed ceramic bezel and a screwed stainless steel caseback adding structural contrast. At 14mm thick, it wears with some presence on the wrist. The mineral crystal sits over a skeleton dial, leaving the Seiko NH70 automatic movement — with its 40-hour power reserve — visible beneath. Luminous treatment is applied to the hands and markers. A black silicone strap with a pin buckle keeps things straightforward, and water resistance reaches 50 metres.

Learn more about Philipp Plein

Philipp Plein founded his label in Munich in 1998, initially designing furniture before moving into fashion. The brand built itself on deliberate excess and has been divisive throughout.

The watches follow suit: heavy gold and black PVD plating, skull motifs, dense crystal setting, and large cases. Movements are quartz. There is no attempt at horological restraint and none is intended.

The brand knows precisely what it is doing and does it without apology, which at least makes it coherent.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Water resistance explained

Will the glass scratch?

It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.

Sapphire, mineral and acrylic compared

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

Quartz, automatic and solar compared

How long does it run for when it's not worn?

About 40 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.
