The Gentleman collection arrived in 2021 as Tissot's answer to a question the brand has asked before: how do you take the clean, uncluttered lines of a 1960s dress watch and make something a person will actually reach for every day. The green dial here does something unexpected — in flat light it reads as a deep, almost sooty black-green, and in direct light it pulls back towards something brighter, the sun-brushed finish catching the gradient in a way that makes the same watch look different across a working day. The movement underneath is the Powermatic 80.811, built on ETA 2824 architecture but with a silicon balance spring added — meaning it shrugs off magnetic fields that would unsettle a conventional lever escapement, and needs no oiling at the point where most movements eventually drift. Tissot claims to have been the first to put this calibre into production, and the 80-hour reserve is a real convenience: take it off Friday evening and it will still be running Monday morning. The engraved rotor is visible through the caseback if that interests you.
