Stepping up in Vivienne Westwood's range
The Eltham collection takes its name from Eltham Palace in south-east London, a building where 1930s Art Deco interiors were fitted inside a medieval great hall — an unlikely combination that produced one of the most distinctive interiors in England. The dial here draws directly from that source: a dark blue ground cut with a multi-layered laser pattern that references the geometric decorative schemes of the palace's rooms, set against rose gold-tone baton markers and finished with Westwood's orb at six o'clock. At 36mm on an integrated bracelet that sits flush to the case, it reads as a considered piece rather than a fashion accessory that happens to tell the time. The blue shifts noticeably under different light — richer indoors, cooler in daylight — and the patterned surface gives the dial a depth that a plain colour would not. The Ronda movement inside is Swiss-made quartz: unheroic in the way quartz always is, but reliable and low-maintenance, which is the appropriate choice for a watch whose interest is entirely in its face.

Learn more about Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren opened a shop at 430 King's Road in 1971, and over the next few years it became the outfitter of British punk. Westwood went on to become one of the most decorated designers Britain has produced, with the orb logo — a sovereign's orb with a Saturn ring — as the house signature from 1987.
The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a British accessories manufacturer and sold through department stores and jewellers.
They carry the house language directly: the orb on the crown or the dial, tartan and heritage-check straps, asymmetric cases, and a willingness to be decorative that most watch brands avoid. Quartz movements, fashion pricing.
Westwood died in 2022. The house continues, and the watch line with it.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's, though at 36mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
