Stepping up in Aston Martin's range
The Icon Chronograph is Aston Martin's way of carrying the BST racing aesthetic into everyday wear — the textured black dial with its three sub-dials is a direct nod to the instrument clusters the marque places in front of its drivers, and the case is pressed from recycled steel, which is an unusual material note for a branded collaboration piece at this scale. What makes the gift set genuinely useful rather than merely generous is the interchangeable bezel system. Three top rings ship in the box — silver, black, and Podium Green, the shade that appears on Aston Martin's podium finishes — and swapping them takes seconds. At 45mm the watch has a strong wrist presence, but 10.2mm of thickness means it does not stack aggressively under a cuff. The bracelet and a black silicone strap both come in the box, and that combination covers a reasonable spread of contexts from the outset.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
22mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths at £300, against £400 at F.Hinds. Two UK retailers stock this reference.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
