Stepping up in Bering's range

Price range £75 to £199 across 29 Bering watches in stock.

A slim, angular case in polished gold PVD sitting at 34mm wide and just 7mm deep — this is Bering's minimalist house language applied with particular discipline. The silver dial keeps only what it needs: slender hands, clean indices, nothing decorative that might disturb the Arctic-influenced flatness the brand has built its aesthetic around. The fine Milanese mesh bracelet suits the proportions well. At this weight and depth the watch lies close to the wrist and moves with it, and the safety clasp gives a secure fit without adding bulk at the fold. The set is completed by a coordinating necklace from the Arctic Symphony collection — a gold-tone vertical pendant set with crystal glass — which shares enough of the same vocabulary that both pieces read as designed together.

Learn more about Bering

Bering was founded in Denmark in 2004 and named for Vitus Bering, the Danish navigator who charted the strait between Siberia and Alaska. The Arctic reference is the brand's whole design argument: clarity, cold light, nothing surplus.

That translates into a consistent look — very slim cases, milanese mesh bracelets, flat dials with minimal markers, and a strong preference for ceramic and titanium over steel.

The technical claim is the glass. Bering fits sapphire across much of the range, and has built its marketing around scratch resistance at price points where mineral glass is the norm.

The company also produces solar-powered models and a substantial range of ceramic watches, and sells widely through European jewellers.

These are design-led quartz watches rather than horological objects, and they are honest about that. What they offer is a Scandinavian aesthetic executed consistently, at a price that does not require thinking twice.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

What size strap does it take?

14mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as women's, though at 34mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
