The Tsuyosa — the name means "strength" in Japanese — is Citizen's attempt to plant an automatic in the middle of the market without apology. The Caliber 8210 inside is a genuine in-house movement, 21 jewels, 40 hours of reserve, visible through a exhibition caseback that makes the point quietly rather than noisily. At 40mm the case is mainstream in size but the integrated bracelet pulls the whole thing together so that it reads as a considered object rather than an assembled one. The sunray green dial shifts as the light moves across it, going from deep forest to something almost jade-depending on the angle, which keeps it from sitting flat on the wrist the way a solid-colour dial can. The exhibition caseback is worth a moment on the wrist — the rotor spins freely visible, and for a watch at this level that is genuinely useful as a reminder to keep it moving. The deployant clasp adjusts without tools, which on an integrated bracelet matters more than it sounds.
