The Tsuyosa — the name means "strength" in Japanese — is Citizen's attempt to bring a clean, dressy automatic into a range historically dominated by solar-quartz technology. It is not a heritage revival or a collaboration; it is a considered answer to the question of what a mid-range mechanical watch from Citizen should look like, built around the in-house 8210 calibre. That movement is the reason to pay attention. Running at 21 jewels with around 40 hours of reserve, the 8210 is reliable and accurate by the standards of this class, and the exhibition caseback means you can actually see it — a detail that earns its place on a watch where the movement is part of the proposition. At 40mm and just under 12mm thick, the case sits low enough to disappear under a cuff, which matters because a dial this colour — sky blue with a sunray finish — reads differently in different light, shifting from near-grey in shadow to something considerably more alive in direct sun.
