Diesel's Spiked collection has always treated the wrist as exhibition space rather than timekeeping real estate, and the DZ4609 carries that logic to its furthest point. The iridescent crystal overlay sitting across the black sunray dial catches and scatters light in a way that shifts completely depending on the angle — indoors it reads as dark and restrained, then catches a window and fractures into colour. At 49mm this is a deliberate choice, not an oversight about size. The 24mm bracelet keeps the proportions coherent rather than letting the case float on something too narrow, and the deployant clasp means it sits consistently in the same place rather than wandering across the wrist between wears.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
