Diesel's Spiked line has always leaned into excess as a deliberate position — this is a watch designed to be noticed at 49mm, not in spite of it. The two-tone case and bracelet work as a single visual argument, the contrast between finishes giving the black satin dial something to play against rather than simply frame it. At this diameter the deployant clasp is the right call, keeping the bracelet secure and flat against the wrist rather than shifting around with the weight.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
