Diesel built the Mr. Daddy line around a single, deliberate provocation: how large can a watch be before it stops being a watch and becomes something else. At 57mm the DZ7463 sits at the outer edge of that question, and the answer it gives is unambiguous — this is a piece designed to be seen across a room, not to disappear under a sleeve. The black PVD case and matching bracelet read as a single object on the wrist, the brushed matte dial breaking the surface into sections that hold the chronograph subdials without looking cluttered. At 28mm the bracelet is proportioned to carry the case without flexing or shifting, and the deployant clasp keeps the fit consistent across the day. Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
