The Laureato dates to 1975, when Girard-Perregaux introduced an integrated-bracelet sports watch built around an octagonal bezel sitting on a circular case — a geometry that quietly anticipated the steel sports watch category that would dominate the decades following. This version, launched in November 2022, revives that architecture faithfully while adding a sunray green dial dressed in a Clous de Paris hobnail pattern, the tiny raised squares catching light differently across the day in a way that plain sunburst finishing does not. At 10.68mm thick for a 42mm case, it sits considerably flatter than most 100m-rated steel sports watches, and the integrated bracelet — with its alternating longitudinal and transverse satin brushing and a continuous bevel that flows from the case directly into the links — compounds that closeness to the wrist. The bracelet itself is assembled with fixed screws rather than pin-and-sleeve construction, which keeps the stack of links tighter and more precise over years of use, and an intermediate-sized link means the fit adjustment is more granular than the usual half-link jump. The GP01800 movement inside runs at 28,800 vph across 191 components and carries 54 hours of power reserve. It is finished to haute horlogerie standard — Côtes de Genève, circular graining, polished pin heads — and visible through a sapphire caseback, which matters here because the standard for that finishing is genuinely high rather than decorative.

The company traces to Jean-François Bautte, who was making watches in Geneva by 1791, and takes its name from the 1854 marriage of Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux, which joined two watchmaking families.
Its signature is a bridge. Constant Girard's Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, developed from 1867 and patented in the United States in 1884, arranged the barrel, gear train, and tourbillon in a line beneath three parallel arrow-shaped bridges — turning the movement architecture itself into the design. Most decorative watchmaking hides its structure; this made structure the ornament. It remains the house's defining object.
Girard-Perregaux also has a serious claim on modern quartz: in 1971 it developed a quartz wristwatch calibre oscillating at 32,768 Hz, and that frequency became the industry standard used in essentially every quartz watch since.
The company supplied precision pocket watches to the German Imperial Navy in the 1880s, an early example of the wristwatch being taken seriously as a professional instrument.
Modern collections include the Laureato, an integrated-bracelet sports watch dating from 1975 that predates most of its rivals, and the Free Bridge and Neo lines, which rework the bridge architecture in contemporary materials. The house is owned by Kering.
