Sits in Girard-Perregaux’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Girard-Perregaux watches we list, which start at £7,900.
Price range £7,900 to £146,000 across 29 Girard-Perregaux watches in stock. The Laureato traces its roots to 1975, arriving in the same moment as the Royal Oak and the Nautilus as luxury watchmaking discovered the integrated sports watch. Where those siblings became ubiquitous, the Laureato took a quieter path, and this rose gold 42mm is its clearest expression: the octagonal bezel that defined the original, a black onyx dial that is hand-polished rather than printed, and applied rose gold indices that sit against it with enough contrast to read instantly. At 10.68mm, the case is notably slim for a solid 18-karat gold watch of this size, which means it moves under a shirt cuff without the case edge catching. The alligator strap with its folding rose gold deployant keeps the lug-to-lug geometry tight to the wrist, so the 42mm diameter reads more composed in wear than it measures on a page. The exhibition caseback is where the movement earns its place. The GP01800 is built in-house to 191 components, runs at 28,800vph and carries a 54-hour reserve — but what the display reveals is the finishing: Côtes de Genève on the rotor, circular graining on the plates, bevelled and polished bridges. It is the kind of work that makes sense of the case material above it.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 54 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
