Price range £7,900 to £146,000 across 29 Girard-Perregaux watches in stock. The Cat's Eye line began in 2004 as Girard-Perregaux's answer to a specific problem: how to build a serious mechanical watch — automatic, in-house, complicated — in a case shaped for the wrist it was actually made for. The oval form is not a decorative flourish but the organising principle of the collection, and on this Celestial variant the dial puts the moonphase at the centre rather than tucking it away as a subsidiary, which gives the complication a prominence it rarely gets. The bezel carries 95 brilliant-cut diamonds against polished rose gold, and the dial beneath them is guilloché mother-of-pearl with diamond hour markers — a combination that reads very differently as the light moves, the surface shifting between soft iridescence and hard sparkle depending on the angle. The blue alligator strap sets the whole thing off with an unexpected coolness against the warmth of the gold, and the folding clasp means it stays put through a full day in a way a plain pin buckle would not. Through the sapphire caseback, the GP03300 runs at 28,800 vph with an engraved rotor — 240 parts and 32 jewels visible in motion, which is a reasonable argument, by itself, for leaving the cuffs unbuttons.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 46 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's, though at 35mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
