Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton 42mm
Ref. 81015-11-001-11A
Sits in Girard-Perregaux’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Girard-Perregaux watches we list, which start at £7,900.
Price range £7,900 to £146,000 across 29 Girard-Perregaux watches in stock. The Laureato began in 1975 as Girard-Perregaux's answer to the integrated-bracelet sports watch that Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe had just made desirable — same octagonal bezel, same flush bracelet, same ambition to be worn at a desk and on a boat without apology. This skeleton variant strips the dial back to the movement itself, which changes the proposition: what you are buying is now explicitly the GP01800, and the watch makes no attempt to hide that. At 10.68mm thick for a 42mm case that is open to the light, the proportions work in a way solid-dial sports watches often do not — the skeletonisation keeps it visually lighter than the size suggests, and on the wrist it sits closer to the hand than the diameter implies. The octagonal bezel is polished where the flanks of the case are brushed, a contrast that has been part of the Laureato's character since the beginning and reads here as deliberate architecture rather than decoration. The GP01800 was designed to be seen: 173 components, a galvanic treatment across the bridges, and the small-seconds subdial placed where it gives the eye somewhere to land once the motion of the rotor stops holding attention. Fifty-four hours of reserve means a weekend off the wrist causes no inconvenience when Monday comes.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 54 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
