Price range £7,900 to £146,000 across 29 Girard-Perregaux watches in stock. The Bridges collection traces its logic back to 1860, when Girard-Perregaux began treating the structural bridges that hold a movement together not as hidden engineering but as the face of the watch itself. What had been purely functional became deliberately architectural, and that principle has run through the collection ever since. This rose gold version extends it into a contemporary idiom: two arrow-shaped gold bridges cross the open dial in a way that is legible as design before it registers as mechanics, yet the movement beneath them — 207 components, a steel micro-rotor, Geneva stripes and bevelled edges finished to the standard of something meant to be seen — is the whole point of the openwork. At 40mm in 18ct rose gold and 11.7mm deep, it wears closer to a dress watch than the skeletonised category might suggest: flat enough to sit under a cuff, the warm metal softening what could otherwise read as an aggressively industrial object. The Dauphine hands and suspended baton indices give the dial a classical reference that keeps it from tipping into pure mechanism. On the wrist, the black alligator strap and matching rose gold triple-fold buckle pull the proportions together without competing with the case, and the sapphire caseback means the micro-rotor and its finishing remain visible from either side.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 48 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 40mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
