Stepping up in Parmigiani Fleurier's range

Price range £19,900 to £67,900 across 15 Parmigiani Fleurier watches in stock.

The 42mm polished and satin-finished stainless steel case carries a fixed bezel with 160 hand-knurled incisions, sitting 12.9mm thick on the wrist. The silver dial is hand-guilloché in a triangular nail pattern, with Arctic Grey sub-dials and an outer minute rehaut. Skeletonised delta-shaped hour and minute hands in 18ct gold rhodium-plate sit alongside rhodium-plated chronograph hands, with sub-dials at three, six, and nine o'clock and a discreet date window at 4:30. Hour markers and hands carry black Super-LumiNova. Inside, the in-house PF070-COSC runs at 5Hz with a column wheel and vertical clutch, delivering around 65 hours of power reserve. The movement is visible through a sapphire case back, with satin-finished openworked bridges, Côtes de Genève decoration, and a 22ct rose gold skeletonised rotor. The Arctic Grey rubber strap is treated to resemble a woven textile and finished with hand-stitched saddle stitching, closing via a stainless steel push-button deployment clasp.

Learn more about Parmigiani Fleurier

Michel Parmigiani spent two decades as a restorer, and it is the key to the company. He worked on the Maurice Sandoz collection — automata, singing birds, and complicated clocks of extraordinary rarity — and became one of the few people alive capable of rebuilding eighteenth and nineteenth century mechanisms whose makers left no documentation.

The Sandoz Family Foundation financed the founding of Parmigiani Fleurier in 1996 on the strength of that expertise, and continues to own it. Restoration work still runs alongside production, which is unusual and has direct consequences: the house has reverse-engineered historical complications few others have seen working.

The Sandoz backing also allowed something rarer than a brand — a supply chain. Parmigiani built or acquired Vaucher for movements, Atokalpa for escapement components including hairsprings, Elwin for precision parts, and Les Artisans Boîtiers for cases. Very few manufactures control all of that, and Vaucher supplies movements to other high-end houses.

The aesthetic signature is the teardrop lug, taken from historical pocket watch cases, and the Toric bezel with its knurled fluting derived from Greek architectural proportion.

The Tonda PF collection, launched in 2021, repositioned the house around understated integrated-bracelet watches and has been its most commercially successful line.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.

Water resistance explained

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Sapphire, mineral and acrylic compared

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

Quartz, automatic and solar compared

How long does it run for when it's not worn?

About 65 hours fully wound — enough to sit off the wrist over a weekend and still be running.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.

Cheapest place to buy

Both Goldsmiths and Mappin & Webb list it at £28,200, so choose on delivery and warranty rather than price.
