Stepping up in Guess's range
The Empress collection borrows the octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet format that high-end sports watches established as their signature look, and translates it into something worn as jewellery. The geometric frame sits around a 34mm case, keeping proportions decidedly feminine without shrinking to a point where the dial becomes hard to read. The ice-blue sunray dial catches light differently depending on the angle — Roman numerals at twelve and six give it a slight formality, while baton indices fill the rest of the chapter ring without crowding it. At 95 grams, the polished chain-link bracelet has enough presence on the wrist to feel substantial, and the push-button deployant clasp means it comes on and off cleanly each day.

Learn more about Guess
The Marciano brothers founded Guess in Los Angeles in 1981, building it on denim and advertising that became as well known as the clothes.
The watch line is produced in-house through Guess Watches and Sequel AG, and follows the brand's aesthetic closely: crystal-set bezels, heavy gold and rose gold plating, oversized cases, and dials that favour decoration over legibility. Movements are quartz.
The watches are priced as accessories and sold as such.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
21mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's, though at 34mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
