The Octogone is Michel Herbelin's exercise in restraint — an octagonal case kept deliberately small, where the geometry does the work that ornament might otherwise do. At 22mm it sits close to the wrist, reading more like a refined bangle than a conventional watch, which is consistent with what the design is after. The mother-of-pearl dial shifts with the light in a way that plain lacquer cannot, and against the warm tone of the gold PVD mesh it sits naturally rather than conspicuously.
