The Epoca name situates this watch within Maserati's broader effort to carry automotive character into something worn on the wrist rather than driven. The skeleton dial is the direct expression of that intent — the grey sunray finish and gold-tone elements frame the movement's workings rather than obscure them, with the Trident at twelve acting as the anchor the eye returns to. The NH70 inside is Seiko's open-heart automatic, a movement chosen for its visibility as much as its reliability, and 41 hours of reserve means a weekend off the wrist causes no inconvenience. At 140 grams on a steel bracelet, the watch has real presence — this is not a watch that disappears — and the mineral crystal carries a sapphire coating that adds more scratch resistance than bare mineral glass alone. The screw-down exhibition caseback is consistent with the dial's logic: the movement is the display, and there is no reason to hide it from either side.

Learn more about Maserati

The Maserati brothers founded their workshop in Bologna in 1914 and built racing cars that won the Targa Florio and the Indianapolis 500. The trident emblem comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.

The watches are a licensed line produced by Morellato Group in Italy, not by the carmaker. They draw openly on automotive design: tachymeter bezels, perforated leather straps recalling racing gloves, dashboard-style dials, and case shapes referencing grilles and instrument binnacles.

Movements are quartz and bought-in automatic. The appeal is the association and the styling rather than the mechanics.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

How long does it run for when it's not worn?

About 41 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.

What size strap does it take?

20mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.
