The Catelyn is a 38mm polished gold and silver-tone stainless steel case, kept slim at around 8 to 9mm thick. The silver dial features clear crystal stone accents and clean baton indices, with a mineral crystal above. The two-tone chain-link bracelet pairs silver and gold-plated stainless steel on a 16mm band, secured by a fold-over clasp with two pushers. Water resistance stands at 50 metres, and the quartz movement drives a three-hand analogue display.

Learn more about Michael Kors

Michael Kors founded his label in New York in 1981 and built it on accessible American luxury. The watches are produced under licence by Fossil Group and have been among the highest-volume fashion watches sold worldwide.

The design leans decorative: gold and rose gold plating, pavé crystal settings, oversized chronograph subdials that are frequently non-functional, and bracelets that echo the jewellery line. Movements are quartz.

These are styling-led accessories, priced accordingly, and they are honest about what they are.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Water resistance explained

Will the glass scratch?

It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.

Sapphire, mineral and acrylic compared

Does it need a battery?

Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.

Quartz, automatic and solar compared

What size strap does it take?

16mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as women's, though at 38mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
