The Star Legacy line draws on Minerva, the Swiss atelier Montblanc acquired in 2006 and whose nineteenth-century pocket watch vocabulary it has been translating into wristwatches ever since. The guilloché on this dial — a radiating star pattern worked concentrically outward — is a direct reference to that tradition, and it reads differently under artificial light than it does in daylight, the texture shifting from flat silver to something with considerable depth. At 42mm across and only 10.6mm tall, the case sits closer to the wrist than most dress watches at this diameter manage, and the leaf-shaped hands suit the dial's period character without tipping into pastiche. The date sits at six o'clock, symmetrically placed below the star centre rather than tucked at three, which is a deliberate choice and a legible one. The exhibition caseback puts the MB 24.17 on display — a movement with 38 hours of reserve and 26 jewels, more than adequate for a watch worn most days and rested on weekends.
