Stepping up in Olivia Burton's range
The Grove collection takes its name from its architectural ambitions — that rectangular case silhouette sits closer to a building's geometry than to the round conventions of most dress watches, and the proportions here feel considered rather than accidental. At 23.2mm it is small enough to read as jewellery on the wrist, while the 30mm lug-to-lug distance keeps it from perching awkwardly on smaller wrists. The dial rewards a second look. The centre is a matte powdered plum that absorbs light quietly, while the outer border carries a sunray finish that catches it — so the watch shifts character as the light changes around it. Hour markers are minimal to the point of near-absence, which keeps that contrast clean. The five-link bracelet has a vintage sensibility that suits the case shape, and the rose gold PVD runs consistently across both, so nothing reads as mismatched.

Learn more about Olivia Burton
Lesa Bennett and Jemma Fennings started Olivia Burton in London in 2012, coming from fashion rather than watchmaking and treating the watch as an accessory to be designed rather than a instrument to be engineered.
That showed in the product: illustrated dials, floral and bee motifs, applied three-dimensional details, mesh and leather straps in soft colours. The bee became the signature, and the brand found a large audience among buyers who wanted something with a point of view at under £200.
Movado Group acquired the company in 2017, placing it alongside Movado, Ebel, Concord and MVMT. Production and distribution run through Movado; the design identity has stayed recognisably its own.
The watches are quartz and the appeal is the artwork, not the movement — which is a fair description of what the brand set out to do in the first place.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
No. At 30m it will survive rain and handwashing, but not submersion of any kind.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
Will it fit my wrist?
Lug-to-lug is 30mm, which suits wrists from roughly 15cm (6 inches) upward.
Lug-to-lug decides fit more than case diameter does.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's.
