Parmigiani Fleurier TONDA PF GMT Rattrapante Rose Gold Milano Blue 40mm Mens Watch
Ref. pfc905-2020001-200182
Sits in Parmigiani Fleurier’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Parmigiani Fleurier watches we list, which start at £19,900.
Price range £19,900 to £67,900 across 12 Parmigiani Fleurier watches in stock. The Milano Blue dial is hand-guillochéd in a grain d'orge pattern across its entire surface, with hand-applied 18ct rose gold appliqué indices and skeletonised delta-shaped hands in matching rose gold. A second skeletonised delta hand, rhodium-plated, tracks home time independently. Pressing the pusher at 8 o'clock advances the local-time hand by one hour; pressing the crown-integrated pusher flies it back to sit directly over the home-time hand, concealing the GMT function when not needed. The 18ct rose gold case measures 40mm across and 10.7mm thick, with a fluted bezel and screwed-in crown. Both the front and caseback are fitted with anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The calibre PF051 is an in-house automatic with a 22ct rose gold micro-rotor guillochéd to match the dial, running at 21,600vph with a 48-hour power reserve. The bracelet is polished and satin-finished 18ct rose gold, closing with a folding clasp.

Learn more about Parmigiani Fleurier
Michel Parmigiani spent two decades as a restorer, and it is the key to the company. He worked on the Maurice Sandoz collection — automata, singing birds, and complicated clocks of extraordinary rarity — and became one of the few people alive capable of rebuilding eighteenth and nineteenth century mechanisms whose makers left no documentation.
The Sandoz Family Foundation financed the founding of Parmigiani Fleurier in 1996 on the strength of that expertise, and continues to own it. Restoration work still runs alongside production, which is unusual and has direct consequences: the house has reverse-engineered historical complications few others have seen working.
The Sandoz backing also allowed something rarer than a brand — a supply chain. Parmigiani built or acquired Vaucher for movements, Atokalpa for escapement components including hairsprings, Elwin for precision parts, and Les Artisans Boîtiers for cases. Very few manufactures control all of that, and Vaucher supplies movements to other high-end houses.
The aesthetic signature is the teardrop lug, taken from historical pocket watch cases, and the Toric bezel with its knurled fluting derived from Greek architectural proportion.
The Tonda PF collection, launched in 2021, repositioned the house around understated integrated-bracelet watches and has been its most commercially successful line.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Showering yes, swimming no. 60m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.
Water resistance explainedWill the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Sapphire, mineral and acrylic comparedDoes it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
Quartz, automatic and solar comparedHow long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 48 hours fully wound — enough to survive a night off the wrist, but not a full weekend.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's, though at 40mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
