The Florence collection has roots in 1980s Swiss watchmaking, when Rado built it around a design language tied to the architecture and art of Renaissance Italy. The circular case arrived in the mid-1990s, steadying what had been a collection moving between rectangular and barrel shapes, and the 38mm version sits alongside a smaller sibling — the two are sold as a pair. What distinguishes the Florence is the edge-to-edge bevelled sapphire that follows the curve of the case, giving the dial an unusually open, unframed look. On this reference that works well with the champagne dial and its rose gold glitter decoration: in flat light it reads as a quiet dress watch; angled light catches it differently. The bracelet carries the same rose gold tone through its alternate middle links, so the dial and the steel read as a considered whole rather than assembled from parts.
