Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Seastar name has been in Tissot's catalogue since the 1950s, though the current generation arrived in 2018 as a 43mm proposition. The 40mm followed later, and the difference is more than a number: the shorter lug-to-lug brings the watch into balance on a wider range of wrists, and a notched case edge gives it a cleaner, more compact profile than its larger sibling. This reference pairs that case with rose gold PVD on the steel — applied to both case and bracelet — over a grey-to-black gradient dial. The movement behind it earns attention. The Powermatic 80.111 is built on the ETA 2824-2 platform but tuned to an 80-hour power reserve, which is unusually generous for a watch that is genuinely intended to go swimming. Nivachron alloy in the hairspring resists magnetic interference without needing a separate soft-iron cage, and the sapphire caseback puts the rotor on display. At 300 metres depth rating, this is serious dive-rated hardware; at 12.5mm officially — reviewers with callipers found 12.6 to 12.8mm once the domed crystal is included — it sits closer to the wrist than that rating usually allows.
