The PRX shape dates to 1978, a period when integrated-bracelet sports watches were the dominant ambition of Swiss design. Tissot revived it as a quartz model in 2021, then followed quickly with this automatic version — the case unchanged, the movement now worth opening the back to see. This particular reference is the leather-strap variant of the black-dial automatic; its sibling puts the same dial on a steel integrated bracelet, and the choice between them changes the character considerably. The Powermatic 80.111 inside is a refined descendant of the ETA 2824, notable for its Nivachron hairspring — a titanium-niobium alloy that resists magnetism and shrugs off temperature shifts that would pull a conventional hairspring off rate. The stated accuracy is ±5 seconds per day, and many examples do better than that without any certification behind them. Eighty hours of reserve means the watch survives a long weekend off the wrist without resetting. All of this is visible through a sapphire caseback, which is the right way to sell a movement worth looking at. The raised tapisserie dial reads differently in flat light and in angled light — flat, it is a coherent black; angled, the grid pattern catches and breaks up the surface. The leather strap, with its quick-release bars, sidesteps the non-standard 11mm integrated-lug geometry that makes bracelet replacement awkward on the steel version, and it will sit closer and softer on the wrist than the rigid first links of the bracelet variant do.
