Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Marine collection traces its roots to the precision deck chronometers Ulysse Nardin supplied to navies across the world in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries — instruments judged accurate enough to fix a ship's position by. The Torpilleur carries that heritage into a wrist watch built around COSC certification, and the UN-118 movement earns it: 50 jewels, 231 components, and a silicon-diamond escapement under the DIAMonSIL name that runs without lubricant in the conventional sense, reducing the drift that comes as oil ages. The dial is organised with the kind of deliberate hierarchy you associate with instrument design — power reserve at twelve, an oversized seconds sub-dial and date paired at six, Roman numerals in white against deep blue. The arrangement is readable at a glance rather than merely decorative. At 42mm on a 21mm lug the proportions are confident without being heavy, and the mix of satined surfaces on the case keeps the watch from reading too formal for everyday wear. The caseback is exhibition sapphire, so the movement is visible from the reverse — a reasonable reward given what is running inside it.
