The Fenchurch collection is where Vivienne Westwood applies its design language most directly to a wrist-sized canvas — the orb at twelve o'clock is not decorative incidental detail but the single organising motif, around which the mixed Roman and baton indices do their quiet, secondary work. The turquoise-tinted blue dial is the kind of colour that reads differently depending on the light: flatter and more muted indoors, sharper and more vivid in daylight. At 28mm it sits naturally on narrower wrists without overpowering them, and the 8.5mm case means the profile stays genuinely low — closer to a bangle than a sport watch in how it disappears under a sleeve. The polished three-link bracelet behaves well, and the butterfly deployment keeps it snug without requiring fidgeting at the catch. Sizing is a visit to a jeweller rather than a home job, but that is true of most bracelets in this construction. Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren opened a shop at 430 King's Road in 1971, and over the next few years it became the outfitter of British punk. Westwood went on to become one of the most decorated designers Britain has produced, with the orb logo — a sovereign's orb with a Saturn ring — as the house signature from 1987.
The watches are licensed rather than made in-house, produced under agreement by a British accessories manufacturer and sold through department stores and jewellers.
They carry the house language directly: the orb on the crown or the dial, tartan and heritage-check straps, asymmetric cases, and a willingness to be decorative that most watch brands avoid. Quartz movements, fashion pricing.
Westwood died in 2022. The house continues, and the watch line with it.
