The Defy Skyline traces its geometry directly to the original DEFY of 1969, a case designed to be angular at a time when that was a provocation. This version carries that octagonal form forward and pairs it with something the original could not offer: the El Primero 3620, running at 36,000vph and displaying a 1/10th-of-a-second indicator that completes a full sweep every ten seconds. That subdial is not decorative — it is the reason the calibre exists, and it gives the dial a kinetic quality that a conventional seconds hand cannot. The sunburst silver dial is engraved with Zenith's four-pointed star, a pattern that reads as texture in flat light and as something considerably more resolved when the light catches it at an angle. The exhibition caseback earns its place here: the 3620 is a manufacture movement worth looking at. Zenith also includes a khaki rubber strap alongside the integrated bracelet, and the quick-change system means switching between them takes seconds without tools.
