Stepping up in Aston Martin's range
The DWF Chronograph is an officially licensed piece built around the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team, and the design makes no attempt to be anything other than that. The pushers are coloured red, yellow and green in direct reference to the F1 starting lights, the sub-dial counters are squared rather than round in the manner of motorsport instrumentation, and the matte Podium Green dial carries the team logo with lime accents that read clearly against the carbon case. At 43mm in carbon-reinforced resin, it wears lighter than its proportions suggest, and the green NATO strap with its contrast centre stripe keeps the whole thing close to the wrist without bulk. The Miyota movement inside is a Japanese-made chronograph calibre — reliable, well-supported, and entirely in keeping with a watch that is meant to be used rather than preserved.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
It can, over time. Mineral glass handles daily wear but will pick up fine scratches that sapphire would not.
Does it need a battery?
Yes. It is quartz, so expect a battery change every two to three years at a jeweller.
What size strap does it take?
22mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as men's.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths at £164, against £219 at F.Hinds Jewellers. Two UK retailers stock this reference.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
