Stepping up in the same colour and case shape
The Altitude line began as a slimmer, more everyday interpretation of Bremont's Martin-Baker watches — those built to the ejection-seat specification used by military aircrew. The 39mm version carries all the structural thinking of those originals: the Trip-Tick construction with its DLC-coated knurled centre barrel, the rubber-mounted movement, the soft-iron Faraday cage ring around it, and the seconds hand counterbalanced by a striped ejection-seat loop. That last detail is not ornament; it is a direct quotation from the MB series, and it gives the dial a character no amount of general aviation styling could replicate. At 11.19mm, the case sits closer to the wrist than the MB watches it descends from, and 39mm is a size that disappears under a cuff without disappearing on it. The applied Super-LumiNova numerals and indices glow blue in the dark — readable rather than decorative. The BB14-AH, built on La Joux-Perret's G100 architecture, carries 68 hours of reserve and wears Geneva stripes and a gunmetal grey finish, both visible through the exhibition caseback — finishing that would be unremarkable on a dress watch but is genuinely unusual on one engineered to absorb shock and resist magnetic interference simultaneously.

Nick and Giles English founded Bremont in 2002, four years after their father died in a plane crash that Nick survived. All three had restored and flown vintage aircraft together, and the brand that emerged is inseparable from that. The name comes from Antoine Bremont, a French farmer who sheltered the brothers after an emergency landing.
Bremont set out to rebuild British watchmaking, which had effectively ended in the twentieth century. The early watches used Swiss movements in British-designed cases, with the Trip-Tick three-part case construction and a hardened outer barrel treated to over 2000 Vickers.
The military and aviation work is real rather than thematic. Bremont holds contracts with squadrons across the RAF, the US Air Force, and other services, producing issued watches for specific units, and has made watches for Martin-Baker ejection seat survivors — tested to the ejection forces themselves.
The company has also built watches incorporating material from historical objects: oak and copper from HMS Victory, aluminium from the Wright Flyer, and steel from Bletchley Park.
The manufacturing ambition advanced with the opening of a facility in Henley and the release of the ENG300 series in 2021, the first Bremont movement designed and largely made in England. Production is in the low tens of thousands annually.
