Stepping up in Bremont's range
The MB series began as a collaboration with Martin-Baker, the company that has saved more ejection-seat lives than any other, and the naming here runs deeper than branding. The Gloster Meteor was the aircraft used for Martin-Baker's first live ejection test in 1946, making it the origin point of a partnership now measured in decades. This watch is the latest reworking of that relationship — the Trip-Tick case re-engineered with a shorter lug-to-lug span, the dual-crown layout refined so the 4 o'clock crown turns the inner bezel with a cleaner, more positive click than its predecessors managed. Grade 2 titanium brings the head to 53.29g, which means 42mm reads larger on paper than it does on the wrist. The dial earns its keep in low light: applied indexes and gloss hands both carry Super-LumiNova, and the seconds hand — red-tipped lollipop, counterweighted by a monochrome ejection-cord loop — is the detail that stops being a novelty and starts being a pleasure. Through the caseback, the BB14 movement sits in a rubber shock mount inside a soft-iron anti-magnetic ring; Geneva stripes and gunmetal finishing are visible, but the engineering underneath them is the more considered point.

Nick and Giles English founded Bremont in 2002, four years after their father died in a plane crash that Nick survived. All three had restored and flown vintage aircraft together, and the brand that emerged is inseparable from that. The name comes from Antoine Bremont, a French farmer who sheltered the brothers after an emergency landing.
Bremont set out to rebuild British watchmaking, which had effectively ended in the twentieth century. The early watches used Swiss movements in British-designed cases, with the Trip-Tick three-part case construction and a hardened outer barrel treated to over 2000 Vickers.
The military and aviation work is real rather than thematic. Bremont holds contracts with squadrons across the RAF, the US Air Force, and other services, producing issued watches for specific units, and has made watches for Martin-Baker ejection seat survivors — tested to the ejection forces themselves.
The company has also built watches incorporating material from historical objects: oak and copper from HMS Victory, aluminium from the Wright Flyer, and steel from Bletchley Park.
The manufacturing ambition advanced with the opening of a facility in Henley and the release of the ENG300 series in 2021, the first Bremont movement designed and largely made in England. Production is in the low tens of thousands annually.
