Stepping up in the same dial colour
The Supermarine has been Bremont's serious diving proposition for some time, but this generation represents a genuine rethink rather than a refresh — slimmer guards integrated around the crown and bezel, and a 13mm case thickness that is meaningfully lean for a watch rated to 500 metres. Most watches built this deep run noticeably thick; this one passes under a cuff without the bulk you would expect from the depth rating. The dial is the most distinctive thing about it. Rather than the flat or sunburst surfaces common to the category, Bremont has pressed a three-dimensional wave pattern into the black — an ocean-surface texture that catches and breaks light differently depending on angle, giving the dial some life without compromising the legibility that applied lume-filled indexes and sword hands deliver in the dark. The ceramic bezel insert keeps its markings sharp through the kind of use that wears aluminium flat. The BB64AH is built on a Sellita SW300 base, but the components on top of it — Glucydur balance wheel, Anachron spring, Nivaflex mainspring — are not standard fitments. The result is a 56-hour reserve running at 28,800vph, and the bracelet it sits on is 904L steel with a toolless quick-release and a deployant clasp with built-in micro-adjustment, which on a dive watch intended for wetsuit wear is a practical detail rather than a cosmetic one.

Nick and Giles English founded Bremont in 2002, four years after their father died in a plane crash that Nick survived. All three had restored and flown vintage aircraft together, and the brand that emerged is inseparable from that. The name comes from Antoine Bremont, a French farmer who sheltered the brothers after an emergency landing.
Bremont set out to rebuild British watchmaking, which had effectively ended in the twentieth century. The early watches used Swiss movements in British-designed cases, with the Trip-Tick three-part case construction and a hardened outer barrel treated to over 2000 Vickers.
The military and aviation work is real rather than thematic. Bremont holds contracts with squadrons across the RAF, the US Air Force, and other services, producing issued watches for specific units, and has made watches for Martin-Baker ejection seat survivors — tested to the ejection forces themselves.
The company has also built watches incorporating material from historical objects: oak and copper from HMS Victory, aluminium from the Wright Flyer, and steel from Bletchley Park.
The manufacturing ambition advanced with the opening of a facility in Henley and the release of the ENG300 series in 2021, the first Bremont movement designed and largely made in England. Production is in the low tens of thousands annually.
