At 49mm it makes no attempt at restraint, and 100 grams on the wrist confirms you are wearing it rather than forgetting it is there. The blue sunray dial graduates across the surface, giving the three sub-dials and the asymmetrically placed date window enough contrast to read clearly without the layout feeling cluttered. The matching blue PVD on case and buckle keeps the whole thing coherent. Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
