At 46mm across but only 11.5mm deep, this particular version avoids the thickness that makes oversized watches uncomfortable, sitting flatter against the wrist than the proportions might suggest. The grey sunray dial and the dark PVD case read as a single surface rather than two distinct parts, which gives the chronograph sub-dials and that blue seconds hand somewhere to land visually. The contrast is pointed without being accidental. Under the dial, the VR31 is a Seiko Instruments movement, which means Japanese precision tolerances in a watch that will be worn hard and is meant to be. The gunmetal bracelet adjusts by removing links, and the deployant clasp opens cleanly with both buttons — practical on a watch of this weight, where a simple fold-over would shift over time.

Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in Molvena in 1978, building a denim brand on deliberate irreverence. The watches, produced under licence by Fossil Group, carry that attitude directly.
Where most fashion watches aim for restraint, Diesel does the opposite: oversized cases frequently past 50mm, blacked-out finishes, exposed screws, multiple crowns, and dials that prioritise visual impact over legibility. The Mr Daddy models stack four time zones onto a single dial.
Whether that appeals is a matter of taste, but the design intent is consistent and unmistakable, which is more than can be said for much of the category.
