Gerald Charles built the Maestro around an asymmetric cushion case that has been the house signature since the brand's founding — a shape that refuses to settle into the anonymity of a round dress watch without reaching for the aggression of a sport one. This gem-set version pushes that tension further by ringing the bezel with factory-set diamonds, placing stones usually associated with evening wear on a rubber-strapped watch rated to 100 metres. The movement inside is where the watch makes its most serious argument. At 3.7mm, the GCA2000 is an in-house ultra-thin calibre running a double-barrel system for a 50-hour reserve — a combination that takes genuine engineering to achieve, and that keeps the case from stacking up on the wrist in the way a lesser automatic would at this depth rating. The black sunburst dial shifts between cool and warm registers as the light moves, and the diamonds on the bezel respond to that shift rather than sitting apart from it. The rubber strap rewards closer attention: Clous de Paris pyramids run across the outer face, and a GC tapisserie pattern covers the underside — the sort of detail that appears where only the wearer will find it.
