The original Ventura, designed by Richard Arbib for Elvis Presley in 1957, was the first electric watch ever made and introduced the asymmetric case that Hamilton has carried ever since. The Edge Skeleton does not simply update that shape — it dismantles and rebuilds it as something architectural, a multi-layered angular structure that reads more like a piece of industrial design than a conventional watch case. At 51mm by 47mm, it asks for a confident wrist and commands the space it takes. The gradient skeletonisation means the H-10-S movement is never fully revealed all at once; the dial filters it, so what you see shifts depending on angle and light. That movement is worth the attention it draws — developed alongside ETA and fitted with a Nivachron balance spring that resists magnetic interference, it carries an 80-hour reserve, which on a watch this expressive is a useful reassurance that it will be running when you reach for it after a long weekend away. The open caseback closes the loop: the same mechanics visible through the dial are there again from the reverse, and at 13.8mm the whole assembly is flatter than the layered case suggests when you see it in photographs.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch

Can I swim with it?

Showering yes, swimming no. 50m covers splashes and brief immersion, but a swimming stroke generates well above the pressure that figure describes.

Will the glass scratch?

Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.

How long does it run for when it's not worn?

About 80 hours fully wound — enough to sit off the wrist over a weekend and still be running.

What size strap does it take?

23mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.

Is it a men's or women's watch?

Listed as men's.

Cheapest place to buy

Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.

Who are Goldsmiths?

Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
