The Octogône is Michel Herbelin's exercise in deliberate restraint — a square case kept small enough to read as jewellery on the wrist, with geometric facets that stop short of decoration and serve instead as a way of catching light differently through the day. At 22.2mm it sits closer to a fine bracelet than a conventional watch, and 7.2mm of depth means it never asserts itself beneath a cuff or a sleeve. The mother-of-pearl dial shifts between grey and near-white depending on the angle, giving the watch a surface that changes without ever becoming busy. Slender Dauphine hands and no numerals keep the face entirely clear. The bracelet's woven chevron pattern ties the whole piece together — polished steel on polished steel, with enough surface variation to avoid reading as flat.
