Longines Conquest 2023 Automatic 34mm Ladies Watch
Ref. L34300876
Sits in Longines’s upper tier here — more premium than three quarters of the Longines watches we list, which start at £1,050.
Price range £1,050 to £22,850 across 113 Longines watches in stock. The Conquest line has always sat at the point where Longines chooses to be taken seriously technically, and the current generation of this 34mm model makes that plain in the movement alone. The L888.5 calibre uses a monocrystalline silicon balance-spring — the same material found in movements costing considerably more — which makes it resistant to magnetic fields in a way a conventional hairspring is not, and it runs for 72 hours between winds, meaning a watch set down on a Friday evening is still keeping time on Monday morning. The diamonds here are not decorative gestures. The bezel carries 48 Top Wesselton IF-VVS stones, the clearest clarity grade available, and the 14 hour markers on the mother-of-pearl dial are graded VS-SI — distinctions that matter in this much light, against a dial that shifts from cream to pale grey depending on where you are standing. At 34mm the proportions are considered rather than small, and at 10.9mm the case sits close enough to the wrist that the bracelet drapes rather than stands away from the arm. The exhibition caseback adds something genuine here: with the L888.5 visible through sapphire on both faces, the watch reads the same from either side, and the finishing on the movement is worth looking at.

Frequently asked questions, and things you should know about this watch
Can I swim with it?
Yes. At 100m it is rated for swimming and snorkelling, though not for diving.
Will the glass scratch?
Unlikely. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness and shrugs off everyday marking.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — the motion of your wrist winds it, and there is no cell to replace.
How long does it run for when it's not worn?
About 72 hours fully wound — enough to sit off the wrist over a weekend and still be running.
What size strap does it take?
17mm. Any strap of that width will fit, and on most modern watches quick-release bars make the swap a two-minute job with no tools.
Is it a men's or women's watch?
Listed as women's, though at 34mm it sits in the range that suits anyone.
Cheapest place to buy
Goldsmiths is the only UK retailer we track stocking this reference, so there is nothing to compare it against today.
Who are Goldsmiths?
Goldsmiths has been selling watches in Britain since 1778 and is part of the Watches of Switzerland Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are an authorised dealer, so a watch comes with the manufacturer’s own warranty.
